Nigerians accused of murdering British soldier deny charges

Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, the two men accused of the murder of a British soldier, pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday.
The two men, who are British born but of Nigerian origins, appeared in court at Old Bailey via videolink before their trial.
Drummer Rigby, the deceased officer, was stabbed as he returned to the Woolwich barracks in southeast London on May 22.

According to reports, two men drove a car at Rigby, knocking him to the pavement before attacking him with knives and a cleaver, and attempting to decapitate him. Witnesses said the assailants shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack.
Adebolajo (28) and Adebowale (22) were later identified as the attackers.
The soldier’s widow Rebecca Rigby watched in tears as both each denied attempting to murder a police officer on the day of Drummer Rigby’s death.
They also denied conspiracy to murder on or before that day.
Adebolajo asked to be known as Mujaahid Abu Hamza in court while Adebowale has asked to be called Ismail Ibn Abdullah.
They were remanded in custody to face trial at the Old Bailey on November 19.
